Tunisia’s Textile Exports to Surpass 9 Billion Dinars in 2025, Says Industry Minister

Tunisia’s textile and apparel sector is set to achieve strong growth in 2025, with exports expected to exceed 9 billion dinars, according to Industry, Mines, and Energy Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub.

Speaking at the celebration of the 19th anniversary of the Monastir–El Fejja Competitiveness Cluster, the Minister highlighted the sector’s remarkable transformation in recent years. She noted that Tunisia has become the leading supplier of professional clothing to the European Union, exporting more than 9.7 million professional garments.

Tunisia also ranks fourth among global suppliers of jeans to the EU, holding a market share of over 8%, a performance that underscores the industry’s role as a key driver of the national economy, she added.

A Hub for Innovation and Industrial Growth

Since its inception, the Monastir–El Fejja development cluster has played a central role in strengthening Tunisia’s industrial landscape. The cluster has been instrumental in:

  • Attracting investment across various industrial sectors
  • Providing technical support to manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and project developers
  • Delivering specialized services to enhance the competitiveness of the textile value chain

The cluster hosts:

  • A business incubator
  • An Industry 4.0 smart center
  • A technological resource center
  • Open labs
  • Textile testing laboratories
  • Four industrial zones

The Minister emphasized that the cluster has supported 60 emerging companies, with 90% continuing operations successfully. It has also helped around 50 industrial firms transition toward smart industry 4.0, while guiding companies through sustainability initiatives, energy transition, and environmental compliance.

Strengthening Collaboration Across the Sector

During the event, a partnership agreement was signed between:

  • The Tunisian Federation of Textiles and Clothing
  • The Monastir–El Fejja Development Cluster
  • The Textile Technical Center

The agreement aims to enhance competitiveness, attract new investment, and strengthen coordination among industry stakeholders, further supporting Tunisia’s ambition to position itself as a regional leader in high-value, sustainable textile production.
