Medellín, Colombia – Turkish textile raw materials supplier Polisar Group is expanding its international presence by exploring new business opportunities in Latin America, as the company responds to slowing demand in the domestic market.
Speaking to Kohan Textile Journal during Colombiamoda 2026, Tuna Hafısoğlu, representative of Polisar Group, explained that the company has been active in the textile raw materials sector since 2006, supplying acrylic fibers, linen fibers, linen yarns, fabrics and other textile materials through exclusive distributorships.
According to Hafısoğlu, the slowdown in Türkiye’s textile industry has encouraged the company to seek new export markets, with Colombia representing one of its latest strategic destinations.
“The contraction we see in Türkiye, especially in raw materials, dyestuffs and fabrics, has encouraged us to look toward new markets. We believe Latin America offers long-term potential, and that is why we are here.”
Polisar Group Makes Its First Participation at Colombiamoda 2026
Colombiamoda 2026 marks Polisar Group’s first participation in the exhibition. While acknowledging that building business relationships requires time, Hafısoğlu said the company is satisfied with the overall quality of visitors and intends to participate regularly in future editions.
“We knew that one exhibition would not be enough. Our strategy is to participate consistently because we believe this market has real potential.”
Polisar Group Evaluates a Different Market Focus in Colombia
Hafısoğlu observed that this year’s Colombiamoda was primarily focused on apparel manufacturers rather than textile raw materials. However, he noted that the professional visitor profile and the active business environment exceeded the company’s expectations.
He also suggested that future editions dedicated more specifically to textile materials could offer even greater opportunities for suppliers.
