Gneuss Highlights the Challenges and Opportunities in Fiber-to-Fiber Recycling

At ITMA ASIA + CITME Singapore 2025, Mr. Niklas Mohlmann, Regional Sales Manager at Gneuss, shared insights into the evolving dynamics of the global textile recycling sector and the company’s focus on overcoming key challenges in fiber-to-fiber recycling.

Mohlmann noted that while the textile and fiber industries are currently facing headwinds—particularly in recycling—there remains strong long-term potential for circular fiber production. “At the moment, low virgin material prices make it difficult for recycled fibers to compete,” he explained.

“Recycling requires additional steps such as purification and reprocessing, which means higher investment. But as consumers increasingly demand sustainability and traceability, the market will inevitably shift toward recycled content.” He emphasized that the future of fiber production will rely on a balanced integration of virgin and recycled materials, enabling both performance and sustainability.

Gneuss, a global leader in polymer processing and filtration systems, is advancing solutions that ensure high-quality recycled pellets suitable for fiber spinning applications. “A key challenge in mechanical recycling is achieving consistent feedstock quality,” Mohlmann added. “Stable material input with manageable impurities is essential to producing reliable fiber-to-fiber output. Once this foundation is secured, technologies from Gneuss can deliver excellent results in circular textile production.”

As sustainability becomes a central focus across the textile value chain, Gneuss continues to drive innovation in extrusion, degassing, and filtration systems that help manufacturers transition toward closed-loop production.
