Insights from Mr. Alex Zucchi on ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 and Future Prospects in Singapore

In an insightful interview, Mr. Alex Zucchi, President of CEMATEX (the Association of European Textile Machinery Manufacturers), discussed the significance of the ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 exhibition held in Shanghai. This year marks a pivotal moment, celebrating nine years of collaboration with Chinese partners.

Navigating Post-Pandemic Opportunities

Reflecting on the industry’s recovery from the pandemic, Mr. Zucchi emphasized the exhibition’s role in fostering international business opportunities. “After a challenging period of lockdowns, we are committed to helping manufacturers explore new markets beyond China,” he stated. This initiative is crucial as companies seek to diversify their operations in a rapidly changing global landscape.

Singapore: A Strategic Choice for Future Exhibitions

A key highlight of the discussion was the upcoming exhibition in Singapore, chosen for its strategic location and accessibility. “Singapore is renowned for its ease of access, with approximately 115 countries enjoying visa-free entry. This makes it an ideal hub for global participants,” Mr. Zucchi explained. Notably, representatives from Brazil and Mexico have already expressed their intention to attend, underscoring Singapore’s appeal as a business destination.

While acknowledging concerns about the higher cost of living in Singapore, he stressed the value of the opportunities it presents. “Despite the costs, the potential for investment and business growth in Singapore far outweighs the challenges,” he noted.

Mr. Zucchi also addressed the nature of the Singapore exhibition, indicating that it will be a standalone event. Discussions regarding its future will continue until the next ITMA exhibition in Shanghai in 2026. “We will assess the outcomes of the Singapore event before making any decisions about future exhibitions there,” he added.

As the textile machinery industry adapts to new realities, Mr. Zucchi’s insights highlight the importance of collaboration, innovation, and strategic planning in shaping a resilient future.
