African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) President Prof. Benedict Oramah recently met with Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State, Nigeria, in Abuja to explore opportunities for economic collaboration—particularly in reviving the cotton industry through value-added exports.
During the meeting, Afreximbank agreed to deploy a team to conduct a comprehensive study of Kaduna’s cotton value chain, with the goal of developing a private sector-driven strategy to enhance value addition and expand textile exports from the state.
Oramah emphasized that this initiative aligns with the bank’s industrialisation and export development strategy, which aims to boost Africa’s manufacturing capacity and intra-African trade.
Kaduna to Participate in Intra-African Trade Fair
Governor El-Rufai accepted Oramah’s invitation for Kaduna State to participate in the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), organised by Afreximbank and scheduled to take place in Cairo from December 11 to 17. The event will serve as a key platform to promote trade, investment, and industrial partnerships among African nations, offering Kaduna an opportunity to showcase its potential in textiles and other sectors.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to revitalising Nigeria’s cotton sector and positioning Kaduna as a hub for sustainable textile manufacturing and export growth in Africa.
