HCM City Welcomes 21st Vietnam International Textile and Garment Expo

The 21st Vietnam International Textile and Garment Industry Exhibition, known as VTG 2023, commenced in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday, unveiling the latest advancements in textile and garment technologies, machinery, equipment, materials, and solutions.

VTG 2023, a highly anticipated event, has attracted more than 500 exhibitors from 12 countries and territories, including Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong (China), India, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, and Thailand.

Judy Wang, President of Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service and one of the organizers, emphasized the significance of this expo amid the challenges faced by Vietnam’s textile industry. She noted, “Despite the multiple challenges faced by Việt Nam’s textile industry in the first half of this year, this is the pivotal moment to proactively undertake a factory quality assessment, conduct a comprehensive examination of production lines and management mechanisms, and leverage the implementation of digital tools to enhance overall efficiency and cost reduction, ultimately turning this crisis into an opportunity.”

With a notable labor shortage in recent years, Vietnam’s textile industry is progressively embracing automation and digital manufacturing. The expo features renowned international textile machinery manufacturers who have been invited to demonstrate cutting-edge automation technologies, aligning with Vietnam’s strong commitment to digital transformation and the shift toward smart factory practices.

VTG 2023 also highlights well-established companies making substantial contributions to digitizing textile production facilities, a vital step as domestic production capacity meets only 25% of fabric demand. This reliance on imports has drawn the attention of manufacturers from countries like India, South Korea, and China, who are showcasing their offerings at the event.

Environmental sustainability is a central theme this year, with many international exhibitors presenting eco-friendly dyeing products. Concurrently, the International Textile and Apparel Accessories Exhibition, the International Dyeing and Chemicals Industry Exhibition, and the International Footwear Machinery and Material Exhibition are also taking place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7.

The exhibitions, organized by the National Trade Fair & Advertising Company (VINEXAD) and Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service Co., Ltd, are set to run until October 28, providing a platform for industry players to explore the latest innovations and trends in the textile and garment sector.
