Swiss textile machinery manufacturers delivered a powerful message of resilience, innovation, and global commitment during ITMA ASIA + CITME Singapore 2025, demonstrating that Switzerland remains one of the world’s most influential players in advanced textile technology.
According to Cornelia Buchwalder, Secretary General of Swiss Textile Machinery, Switzerland ranked among the top exhibitors at this year’s event.
“We are proud to be the fifth largest exhibitor by space at the show. Switzerland is also the seventh largest by number of exhibitors, which speaks to the strength and international relevance of our industry,” Buchwalder said during an interview at the exhibition.
Swiss Innovations Across the Textile Value Chain
Swiss companies showcased a comprehensive range of technologies spanning the entire textile value chain—from spinning and weaving to finishing. Exhibitors presented advanced solutions addressing today’s most pressing industry challenges.
Buchwalder emphasized that Swiss manufacturers are actively driving long-term progress in three essential areas:
- Sustainability – Technologies designed to reduce water and energy consumption, improve resource efficiency, and support circularity.
- Automation – Innovations responding to global labor shortages, enabling factories to operate with fewer skilled workers while enhancing productivity.
- Digitalization – Smart systems that simplify machine operation and optimize production through data-driven intelligence.
“There is still tremendous potential to make machinery even more efficient. The journey continues, but our companies are fully committed to developing solutions that support the industry’s sustainability goals,” she added.
A Truly International, High-Quality Exhibition
One of the standout features of ITMA ASIA + CITME Singapore 2025, according to Buchwalder, was the exceptional quality and diversity of exhibitors and visitors.
“This has been a truly international show—very well balanced across many countries. Our members appreciated the global spirit and the high calibre of visitors,” she said.
“Exhibitors were particularly pleased to meet real decision-makers. While visitor numbers were strong, what mattered most was the excellent quality of engagement.”
Swiss companies also valued the opportunity to present their technologies alongside global leaders, benefitting from a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives within the textile machinery community.
Cautious Optimism for Industry Recovery
Despite the difficult global economic climate, Buchwalder noted encouraging signs emerging across the market:
“These remain challenging times, but we are starting to see small but positive signs of recovery. It’s not a big movement yet, but it is encouraging.”
She added that Switzerland’s continued participation underscores its unwavering commitment to supporting the global textile and apparel industry as it navigates transformation toward sustainability, automation, and digital efficiency.
Singapore: A Welcomed Host City
Beyond business, Buchwalder highlighted the positive reception of Singapore as the host location:
“Everyone loves Singapore, and it was certainly a nice treat for exhibitors and visitors alike.”
