Stäubli is seeing renewed investment and growing opportunities in Egypt’s textile industry as local and international manufacturers expand their production capabilities for export markets.
Speaking to Kohan Textile Journal during EGY Stitch & Tex 2026 in Cairo, Mohamed Barradi, Area Sales Manager at Stäubli, discussed the company’s weaving technologies, the outlook for Egypt’s textile sector and its longstanding cooperation with local representative NobelTex.
Mohamed Barradi Discusses Stäubli’s Technologies and Egypt’s Textile Outlook
Kohan Textile Journal: Could you introduce Stäubli and the range of products it offers to the Egyptian market?
Mohamed Barradi: I have been working with Stäubli for 20 years. Stäubli is a mechatronics company active in connectors, robotics and textile technologies, with textiles representing the company’s original business activity.
On the weaving side, we provide shedding solutions that include cam motions, dobbies and Jacquard machines. We also supply weaving-preparation systems manufactured in Switzerland, including automatic drawing-in systems, warp-tying machines and related equipment.
Our objective is to provide weaving mills with the technologies they need to manufacture high-quality fabrics while achieving strong production performance. For customers looking to improve their weaving operations, Stäubli aims to be a reliable technology partner.
Stäubli’s official textile portfolio covers weaving-preparation technologies, cam motions, rotary dobbies and Jacquard solutions for a wide range of fabric applications.
Kohan Textile Journal: How do you assess Egypt’s textile market and its future potential?
Mohamed Barradi: Since last year, Egypt’s textile market has started moving forward very quickly. The availability of labour and energy is encouraging investment, and many of our customers are developing their operations to manufacture better products for European and US markets.
We are also seeing more foreign companies investing in Egypt. As a result, the market is becoming more dynamic and increasingly attractive to textile manufacturers and technology suppliers.
Egypt has considerable potential. The combination of new investment, export ambitions and expanding manufacturing capabilities can support the continued development of its textile industry.
Kohan Textile Journal: How would you describe Stäubli’s cooperation with NobelTex in Egypt?
Mohamed Barradi: NobelTex is our trusted representative in the Egyptian market, and our cooperation goes back almost 40 years. We had the opportunity to work with Mrs. Layla, and we are now pleased to continue this relationship with Mrs. Naila.
Mrs. Naila and the NobelTex team are doing an excellent job. The company has specialists in different fields who can introduce our technologies, understand customers’ requirements and hold detailed technical and commercial discussions with them.
We hope this cooperation will continue for many more decades and will be carried forward by the next generation.

Egypt Emerges as a More Dynamic Textile Investment Destination
Barradi’s comments reflect increasing confidence in Egypt’s potential as a textile and apparel manufacturing base. New domestic and foreign investments, together with the country’s access to labour, energy and major export destinations, are creating opportunities for advanced textile machinery suppliers.
For weaving mills, investment in modern shedding and weaving-preparation systems can support higher productivity, consistent fabric quality and greater flexibility. As Egyptian producers seek to strengthen their position in European and American markets, reliable technology and local technical support will become increasingly important.
