Created by Yelena Rodina, senior field designer for Durkan , as part of an emotional, poetic experience she encountered earlier this year during self-isolation, Influunt is a passionate soft surface interaction between abstract paintings and Jacobean embroidery patterns, the company said.
Based on traditional textile art, the collection of hospitality carpeting employs advanced design techniques to transform flat tapestry into the multi-dimensional textured carpet—brought to life through Durkan ’s patented technologies and the creative talents of its in-house design team.
“I would be lying if I said that Influunt was inspired by something,” said Rodina. “Sometimes the universe sends us signs. During the quarantine, I had a problem with my internet one day. I turned to my love of painting and experimenting with different techniques.”
Like pearl strands, delicate lace ornamentation weaves into contemporary expressional brushstroke and watercolour paintings, helping to build bridges between the past and the present.
“Trying to translate the expressions through painting is an exciting process that helps me to enhance visual effect and create a mood,” added Rodina.
Influunt is featured in Definity, Durkan’s exclusive manufacturing technology which surpasses traditional luxury carpet by offering multi-level textures, more than twice the definition, superior performance and unmatched sustainability. The collection is also offered in Durkan’s Synthesis, Pattern Perfect, PDI carpet tile and tufted broadloom.
