Mahlo Highlights Challenges of Increasing Number of Textile Exhibitions

Mahlo GmbH + Co. KG, a global leader in textile machinery and process control solutions, addressed the growing concerns over the rising number of industry exhibitions during ITMA Asia + CITME 2024. Speaking on the subject, Mr. Thomas Höpfl, Head of Sales at Mahlo, shared insights on how the company navigates this challenging landscape.

“At the moment, we face a significant challenge with the frequency of exhibitions,” Mr. Höpfl explained. “Mahlo supplies equipment for several industries, including textiles, extrusion, nonwovens, coating, converting, and even the battery sector. While exhibitions are a fantastic tool for engaging with customers, we cannot participate in every event. We must be highly selective and focus on the most impactful ones.”

Highlighting Mahlo’s strategic approach, Mr. Höpfl emphasized the importance of prioritizing major exhibitions, such as ITMA and ITM, which serve as key platforms for the global textile industry. “These large-scale events are indispensable for us. However, with the increasing number of smaller exhibitions in regions like Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand, we have to make tough decisions. It’s simply not feasible to attend them all,” he stated.

This sentiment echoes a broader industry concern, as noted by discussions during the VDMA Textile Machinery Association meeting held at the event. “Many suppliers share the same viewpoint: there are too many exhibitions, and we need to rethink which ones are truly essential. It’s a conversation we must have as an industry,” Mr. Höpfl added.

Despite these challenges, Mahlo remains committed to leveraging exhibitions as vital opportunities to showcase innovations and connect with customers. The company continues to emphasize quality over quantity, ensuring its presence at key global events that align with its strategic goals.
