Mahlo’s Cutting-Edge Weft Straightening Technology Captures Attention at ITMA Asia + CITME 2024

Mahlo, a leading name in textile machinery, presented its latest innovation, the Orthopac weft straightener, at ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 in Shanghai. Thomas Höpfl, Head of Sales at Mahlo, expressed pride in the company’s success at the exhibition and highlighted significant customer interest in the advanced capabilities of the new Orthopac system.

“This machine was specially engineered to manage high distortion dynamics in fabrics, particularly for knit goods where frequent distortion changes occur,” Höpfl explained. “The Orthopac incorporates dual detection systems—positioned at both entry and exit points—allowing real-time correction of fabric distortions with exceptional accuracy.”

By combining feed-forward control with closed-loop algorithms, supported by artificial intelligence, the Orthopac adjusts instantly to incoming distortions, delivering high-precision weft straightening from the very first centimetre of fabric. Initially introduced as a case study at ITMA Milan, this model has since been implemented in textile operations worldwide, yielding positive feedback and impressive performance results.

“The response from our customers has been outstanding,” added Höpfl. “This new technology is generating significant interest and promising to elevate standards in the textile industry.”
