Virtual buyer-seller meet for carpet exports from Sep 29

The Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) has announced a three-day virtual buyer-seller meet focused on Australia and neighboring markets, aiming to help handmade carpet exporters maintain business momentum and explore new export opportunities amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Virtual Event to Connect Exporters with Australian Buyers

The online event will be held from September 29 to October 1, with participation limited to 50 exhibitors on a first-come, first-served basis due to the limited number of virtual booths.

According to CEPC, India remains the largest exporter of handmade carpets to Australia and other countries in the Oceania region, making the market an important destination for future export growth.

The Handicrafts and Handloom Department of Jammu and Kashmir has encouraged local carpet exporters and entrepreneurs to participate in the event by submitting their applications before September 15.

Officials said the virtual buyer-seller meet offers exporters an opportunity to diversify their customer base by targeting new markets in Australia and surrounding countries, helping strengthen India’s handmade carpet exports.

The renowned Kashmir handmade carpet continues to be one of India’s most significant handicraft exports, with strong demand across Europe, the United States and the Middle East.

However, exporters from Jammu and Kashmir have faced significant challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic, as travel restrictions and the cancellation of physical trade events have limited their ability to showcase products, meet buyers and expand international business relationships.
