Sri Lanka’s Garment Exports Rise 4% to $3.3 Billion in 2024

Sri Lanka’s garment sector has seen notable growth, with exports reaching $3.3 billion in the first nine months of 2024—a 4% increase over the same period last year. This growth highlights the resilience and adaptability of the industry amid ongoing global economic challenges.

The sector’s performance has been driven by strong demand in major markets, particularly the United States and the European Union. Sri Lanka’s shift towards producing higher-value garments, including sustainable and ethically produced apparel, has further enhanced its competitiveness and appeal in the global market.

Despite challenges like rising production costs, inflation, and supply chain disruptions, Sri Lankan garment manufacturers have maintained their edge through innovation and a strong commitment to quality and sustainable practices.

With continued demand and strategic positioning, industry leaders are optimistic about maintaining this growth trend through the end of the year, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s role as a key player in the global apparel market.
