Paradise Textiles and Matter Named Sustainability Tech Innovator of the Year at Drapers Awards 2025

Paradise Textiles, the science and innovation arm of Alpine Group, together with UK-based clean-tech pioneer Matter, has been honoured with the Sustainability Tech Innovator of the Year award at the prestigious Drapers Awards 2025. The recognition celebrates their groundbreaking partnership to bring Regen®, a first-of-its-kind microfiber filtration technology, into industrial-scale textile production. This achievement marks a major leap forward in tackling one of fashion’s most persistent and under-addressed environmental challenges: microfiber pollution.

Regen® is the world’s first scalable, self-cleaning, industrial microfiber filtration system with zero disposable parts. By capturing microfibres directly at the source during textile manufacturing, Regen® enables mills to significantly cut emissions, reduce energy and chemical usage, and lower operational costsproving that sustainability and profitability can reinforce each other rather than compete.

Paradise Textiles identified the potential of Matter’s innovation early on, initiating a collaboration that has spanned four years of rigorous development. Together, the teams refined, tested, and industrialised Regen® across multiple manufacturing environments. The first full-scale installation is scheduled for 2026 at the company’s new mill in Egypt, marking a transformative milestone in sustainable production.

Lewis Shuler, VP of Advanced Concepts at Paradise Textiles / Alpine Group, said: “For four years, Paradise Textiles and Matter have been evolving Regen® directly inside live manufacturing environments to ensure true scalability and industrial impact. This award acknowledges the dedication of both teams in turning a bold idea into a robust, high-performance system. As we move toward our first major installation in Egypt, we are demonstrating that microfiber pollution can be tackled at its source—while simultaneously improving efficiency and environmental outcomes.”

Adam Root, CEO and Founder of Matter, added: “I’m enormously proud of what our teams have accomplished. This recognition underscores the power of collaboration between pioneering technology and real-world industry expertise. My hope is that more brands will examine their supply chains closely and join our efforts to address this critical issue at scale.”

Conclusion: Looking Forward

With more than 150,000 textile factories worldwide contributing to nearly 20% of global clean-water pollution, the potential of Regen® to reshape industry standards is immense. A single installation can capture up to 170 tonnes of microfibres and prevent 500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions within just three years.

Beyond being an award, this moment reflects a rising global demand for actionable, scalable sustainability solutions. Through innovation and cross-sector collaboration, Paradise Textiles and Matter are setting a new benchmark for responsible textile manufacturing—and signaling a future where clean production becomes the norm, not the exception.
