50+ Nations Unite to Form BRICS International Fashion Federation at BRICS+ Fashion Summit

In a landmark move at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, representatives from over 50 nations signed a memorandum to establish the BRICS International Fashion Federation. This new alliance aims to foster international collaboration, strengthen industry sustainability, and create global opportunities for emerging fashion talent.

The summit, held in Moscow and attended by delegates from over 100 countries, marks a significant milestone for the fashion industry in both established and emerging markets. Notable signatories include leaders from fashion associations across India, South Africa, Russia, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, the USA, and several other countries.

Brian Ahumuza, CEO of Uganda Fashion Designers Association, emphasized the Federation’s potential to foster cross-border collaborations, enabling designers from emerging markets to access new global opportunities.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, praised the initiative, stating, “The need for such an alliance is long overdue. Emerging markets require a platform to address shared challenges and make their voices heard.”

Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, highlighted the Federation’s role in promoting sustainable fashion and cultural exchange, positioning it as a pivotal outcome of the summit.

The BRICS International Fashion Federation will focus on supporting local talent, promoting eco-friendly practices, and encouraging the preservation of traditional arts and crafts. A key component of its agenda will be the promotion of slow fashion, emphasizing mindful consumption and production practices.
