Xeikon brings future of digital wallpaper production to Heimtextil 2018

Wall Decoration Suite allows to produce wallpaper rolls at up to 900 m2 per hour, making it the only digital alternative to high speed analogue technologies

Eede, the Netherlands, December 05, 2017 – Xeikon will be bringing its breakthrough Wall Decoration Suite for digital manufacturing of wall decoration applications to Heimtextil, scheduled for 8 to 12 January 2018 in Frankfurt. The company will be located on stand 6.0 B21 at the show. Xeikon’s Wall Decoration Suite is the only digital alternative to the high speed analogue technologies typically used to print wallpapers, thanks to its new dry toner platform that comes with a 56% speed increase. The Wall Decoration Suite is a unique end-to-end solution comprised of a digital press, eco-friendly toner, efficient workflow, finishing and support for the widest range of substrates. It is the only digital production solution capable of meeting the high volume and throughput requirements of the wall decoration market while addressing the trend towards shorter runs of traditional wallpaper rolls.

“There are a number of use cases that require shorter runs of wall decoration that cannot be profitably produced using conventional printing technologies,” explains Dimitri Van Gaever, Xeikon’s Business Development Manager for the Graphic Arts Segment. “This includes short-run printing for end-of-life collections, start-up collections, sample books and customized or ultra-short-run wall coverings such as photo murals for homes or businesses. Our Wall Decoration Suite addresses all of these, and most importantly it does so with no compromise in quality and a focus on profitability.”

As part of the Wall Decoration Suite, Xeikon offers a range of digital roll-fed presses suitable for producers of wallpapers, from entry-level investments to full manufacturing productivity that allows to digitally produce traditional wallpaper rolls at up to a stunning speed of 900m²/hour. All Xeikon Wall Decoration configurations include a jumbo roll unwinder and a specially developed wallpaper rewinder with slitting and waste removal to deliver perfectly finished wallpaper rolls, in one go. An optional varnishing module is also available.

Xeikon presses support high productivity with full rotary printing independent of either the number of colours or the repeat length of the pattern. The Wall Decoration Suite is driven by the X-800. This industry-leading digital front-end includes many workflow productivity features and colour management tools that deliver colour stability and output reproducibility. This is especially important when wall coverings must match on reorders, something which might be more challenging to achieve using conventional and other digital printing technologies.

“Another important part of the Wall Decoration Suite are the Xeikon dry toners that are eco-friendly and safe. They are odourless, emit no VOCs and comply with European EN15102 standard, whilst combining high lightfastness. This guarantees Xeikon-printed wall coverings can be used anywhere: schools, healthcare facilities, living rooms, bed rooms… To ensure our customers can meet almost any colour printing need, all Xeikon toners are available in CMYK, white and a variety of special colours. We even have UV reflective and fluorescent toner,” Van Gaever adds. “Using our Wall Decoration Suite, customers are also able to print on the widest range of non-woven substrates typically used for wall decoration. Xeikon is testing and certifying wall covering materials on an ongoing basis, giving our customers peace of mind they can count on a smooth production process. Customer can visit explore.xeikon.com to discover and get in touch with our global wall decoration partners.”
