Interview with Christine Tang-The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT
Could you please let us know more about ITMA Asia exhibition, goals and success story?
On 27 April 2006 – CEMATEX (the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers), CTMA (China Textile Machinery Association), CCPIT-Tex (the Sub Council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) and CIEC (China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation)were pleased to announce that they had signed a long term co-operation, starting with a combined textile machinery show in 2008.
This first combined exhibition, “ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008”was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, PRC from 27 to 31 July 2008.
The partners had agreed in principle to hold a combined ITMA ASIA + CITME exhibition every two years in Shanghai.
CEMATEX launched its ITMA ASIA show in 2001, followed by a second show in partnership with JTMA (Japan Textile Machinery Association) in 2005, both of these being held in Singapore. CEMATEX is also the owner of the ITMA show which has been held in various European locations every 4 years since its launch back in 1951, the latest edition taking place in Barcelona on 20-26 June2019.
The CITME show (owned by CTMA) was launched in 1988 and has to date been held every two years in Beijing, PRC, the 10th edition being held there in October 2006.
ITMA ASIA + CITME2020, the region’s leading textile machinery exhibition, is set for its seventh presentation in Shanghai from 15 to 19 October 2020 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre.
According to show owners CEMATEX and Chinese partners, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT (CCPIT-Tex), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and China Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC), the mega textile machinery exhibition will continue to be the unrivalled marketing platform for textile machinery manufacturers tapping into the vibrant China market.
Said Mr Fritz P. Mayer, President of CEMATEX, “Despite the economic slowdown of the Chinese market, the opportunities presented by China continue to be attractive for machinery manufacturers from around the world due to the sheer size of its market.
“Having held six successful presentations of the ITMA ASIA + CITME combined show since 2008, we are confident that the upcoming exhibition will create enhanced and new marketing and networking opportunities for both Chinese and international textile and textile machinery manufacturers, especially those offering intelligent manufacturing, innovative products and smart solutions.”
The successful track record of ITMA ASIA + CITME has helped garner huge support from major players around the world, pointed out Mr Wang Shutian, Honorary President of China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA).
He added, “ITMA ASIA + CITME has set a high standard for textile machinery exhibitions in China and the rest of Asia. It is the sole exhibition that admits only manufacturers of products and technologies of textile machinery as exhibitors in China. Our members in China fully support the event, and we will be working closely with all leading industry associations and their members to ensure that the combined show continues to be a cost-effective showcase for their products and services in Asia.”
As China’s textile industry continues its transformation, textile makers are sourcing for innovative solutions and upgrading their facilities to compete in today’s challenging global market. The drive for better technological solutions is expected to grow in Asia, especially China.
ITMA ASIA + CITME 2020 is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co Ltd and co-organised by ITMA Services. Japan Textile Machinery Association is a special partner of the show.
