Indian brand Ekaya at Paris Haute Couture Week

Indian handloom brand Ekaya is participating in the Haute Couture Week by showcasing 14 couture variations of its fabrics at the ongoing exhibition-Cousu d’Or – Magical Weaving. With this, Ekaya is looking forward to develop projects combining the French Fashion know–how with the Indian textile heritage including varieties of luxury and handwoven fabrics.

Ekaya and the French Federation of Custom Couture Creation-Paris, organiser of Haute Couture Week, have entered into a partnership. In India, the federation has also collaborated with several other companies that support this project in the form of offering premium fabrics to the designers, members of the federation.

For Cousu d’or, Ekaya has created a special capsule collection comprising of luxurious ivory-coloured fabrics. Since the theme is bespoke French wedding wear, Ekaya has put together an array of unique fabrics both from Ekaya archives and newly designed collection themes to showcase how effortlessly and gracefully Indian fabrics can fit the global market. The collection consists of a rich selection of our signature brocades along with, silks, cotton, georgettes, chiffons, tusser, organza, mashru silks and chikankari hand embroidery. The fabrics have been woven using very intricate weaving techniques.

The Ekaya collaboration project Cousu d’or with C’Couture-Paris is helping demonstrate how Indian fabrics can be a part of the French couture and wedding industry. The 14 members of the federation have beautifully used the fabrics and given them a new life.

“The members of our federation have designed a collection of gowns related to high-end French fashion, using some of these luxurious fabrics, overtaking the Indian dress codes, opening up some opportunities for these fabrics on the European market. The event will benefit the members of our association involved in this project to be known, and will be a platform to promote the luxurious textiles of the Ekaya company in France,” the federation said in a press release.
