Overwhelming Industry Response Fills Exhibition Space Across Nine Halls
The world’s most influential textile and garment technology exhibition, ITMA 2019, is preparing for another spectacular edition, set to take place from 20–26 June 2019 at Fira de Barcelona, Gran Via. With exhibition space fully booked ahead of schedule, the organizing team has been busy allocating space among the many applicants eager to participate in the global event.
Mr. Fritz P. Mayer, President of CEMATEX, expressed his enthusiasm:
“The response for ITMA 2019 is so overwhelming that we have not been able to meet the demand for space despite adding two more exhibition halls. ITMA is a show for the industry, by the industry, and we aim to feature a broad range of cutting-edge solutions from both established and emerging players.”
The exhibition, recognized as the premier platform for textile innovation, will host 1,660 exhibitors from 47 countries, covering all nine halls of the venue.
Diverse Participation and Expanding Sectors
Mr. Charles Beauduin, Chairman of ITMA Services, emphasized the show’s inclusive approach:
“Our priority is to accommodate as many qualified applicants as possible. It is encouraging that CEMATEX associations have supported this approach, allowing ITMA to remain a vibrant and trendsetting global platform.”
Despite expanding the venue, hundreds of companies remain on the waiting list — a clear testament to the exhibition’s unrivaled prestige in the textile and garment industry.
Mr. Federico Pellegata, Director of ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers), added:
“We understand the space limitations and appreciate the organizers’ efforts to include as many exhibitors as possible. ITMA’s broad representation benefits the entire textile ecosystem.”
Spotlight on Spinning and Digital Printing
Among the sectors with the highest demand is spinning, where major players such as Murata Machinery will present their latest innovations. Mr. Daisuke Murata, President & CEO, commented:
“ITMA is an important international platform for us to launch new technologies. The growing participation and diversity of exhibitors will further enhance collaboration and innovation within the industry.”
Another rapidly expanding segment is printing, which has evolved into a standalone chapter at ITMA 2019. As digital transformation accelerates, participation in the printing and inks sector has increased by 30% compared to ITMA 2015.
Mr. Dick Joustra, CEO of SPGPrints Group, noted:
“Digitalisation is reshaping the textile and garment industry. ITMA allows brand owners and designers to explore how digital printing can revolutionize production. It remains a crucial marketplace for us to showcase our conventional and digital solutions.”
Garment Manufacturing Enters the Era of Smart Automation
The garment making sector is witnessing major technological evolution — shifting from labour-intensive processes to smart, automated systems powered by AI, robotics, vision technologies, and integrated automation.
Reflecting this transformation, many new exhibitors — including Borsoi, Bullmer, Han’s Yueming Laser, Juki, Serkon Tekstil, and SoftWear Automation — will debut at ITMA 2019, some co-locating with partners to offer integrated manufacturing solutions for global buyers.
A Global Hub for Innovation and Collaboration
With exhibitors and visitors representing every link in the textile value chain, ITMA 2019 promises to deliver unparalleled opportunities for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
Successful applicants will receive their official certificate of admission and booth details this month. Updated information on sector layouts and the complete floor plan is available on the official ITMA website (www.itma.com).
ITMA 2019 once again reaffirms its role as the definitive platform for textile and garment technology, where the future of the global industry takes shape — all under one roof in Barcelona.
