Amirkabir University of Technology Ranks 10th Globally in Textile Science and Engineering

In 2023, Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran was ranked 10th among the world’s universities in the field of textile science and engineering based on the Shanghai ranking system.

The subject ranking of Shanghai was published in 2023. The Shanghai Subject Rating System is one of the most reliable global rankings, the results of which are published by Shanghai Jiaotong University, China. Global Academic Subject Ratings (GRAS) was published for the first time in 2017.

The Shanghai Ranking System has released the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) in 2023 for the seventh consecutive year. This ranking has been done in 2023 in 55 disciplines in the form of 5 general fields, including engineering, natural sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences.

This ranking uses a wide range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of world universities in related subjects. The indicators measured in this ranking system are:

Research output (Q1), research impact (CNCI), international cooperation (IC), and research quality (TOP). Each of these indicators has a specific weight in that subject area. The weight of these indicators in the field of textile science and engineering is determined as 100, 100, 20 and 100 respectively.

There are 42 universities from the Islamic Republic of Iran in this ranking, and Amirkabir University of Technology and Tehran have obtained the best ranks in the field of textile science and engineering. A Saudi university and a Pakistani university have been placed.

Amirkabir University of Technology, in addition to the field of textile engineering in the field of mining engineering with a rank of 76-100, in the field of mechanical engineering with a rank of 101-150, in the field of civil engineering with a rank of 151-200, in the field of science and technology of tools with a rank of 201-300, in Medical engineering with a rank of 201-300, chemical engineering with a rank of 401-500, and mathematics with a rank of 1-500 are 40 in this classification.
