WestPoint Home, one of the world’s leading textile companies with a legacy of over 220 years, has inaugurated Phase 1 of its new towel production line at its advanced manufacturing complex in Bahrain. The expansion establishes the company as the only single-site producer of premium linens and towels in the Middle East, strengthening its “Made in Bahrain” global export story while creating new jobs and economic opportunities.
The launch ceremony was officiated by H.E. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and attended by senior government officials including H.E. Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Elizabeth Litchfield, and leading regional customers.
The project represents an additional US$5 million investment, adding to more than US$165 million already invested since WestPoint Home first established operations in Bahrain in 2006. With the new production line, the facility is set to produce 4 million towels annually, alongside bathrobes, bathmats, and its existing premium bed linens. Designed with sustainability in mind, the expansion underscores the company’s commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing.
From its Bahraini hub, WestPoint Home exports to major markets across the GCC, United States, United Kingdom, and Europe, having shipped over US$1 billion in products to the U.S. alone since inception. Its vertically integrated operations supply global brands including Ralph Lauren, Marriott, Hilton, Westin, and Amazon.
The investment also expands local employment opportunities. WestPoint Home Bahrain currently employs around 1,300 people, including more than 100 Bahraini nationals across engineering, quality, HR, and corporate roles.
“Our towel production launch not only extends the capabilities of our largest global manufacturing base but also deepens our long-standing partnership with the Kingdom,” said Jonathan Storie, President and CEO of WestPoint Home. “Bahrain’s business-friendly environment, infrastructure, and supportive government provide the ideal foundation for growth. This investment enhances our global reach while creating new opportunities for Bahraini talent.”
The U.S. Embassy’s Elizabeth Litchfield noted the company’s contribution: “For nearly two decades, U.S. investment from WestPoint Home has supported innovation and benefited the U.S.–Bahrain manufacturing sector.”
Looking ahead, Phase 2 of the towel production line is planned, contingent on the conclusion of a GCC–UK Free Trade Agreement under negotiation. This expansion would enable significant growth in exports to the UK market, further positioning Bahrain as a hub for high-quality, sustainably produced home textiles.
