Copenhagen Fashion Week & trade fairs join hands for SS21

The Copenhagen Fashion Week, CIFF, Revolver, Dansk Fashion and Textile (DM&T), and Wear have initiated a close collaboration on the upcoming SS21 edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week set to take place in the first week of August 2020. Copenhagen Fashion Week welcomes esteemed press, buyers and influencers to four days of shows, presentations, and events.

Copenhagen Fashion Week Responds to Crisis

The corona crisis has hit the fashion industry hard, pushing all aspects of the industry to confront challenges of historical dimensions. Fashion weeks in June and July, 2020, in Paris, Milan, and London have been postponed, and uncertainty about how the virus will develop also makes it difficult to predict how this August’s Copenhagen Fashion Week SS21 will turn out, according to a press release by the show.

The organising body Copenhagen Fashion Week, the trade fairs CIFF and Revolver, with support from the industry associations DM&T and Wear, have joined forces to embrace a unified strategy for the upcoming edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week. Above all, the parties agree that Copenhagen Fashion Week SS21 can and must take place. There is also agreement that fashion week must be adapted to suit the industry’s current situation. This implies that everyone must be willing to compromise about existing formats to accommodate the industry in the best way possible.

“Copenhagen Fashion Week is devoted to lifting the Scandinavian industry and that’s a responsibility that binds – also during this extraordinarily challenging time. Most companies are affected by the corona virus and simply lack revenue and liquidity. The best thing we can do in this time of crisis is to figure out how to create the best conditions in terms of sales, business and public relations. That’s why we’re all ready to adapt to the circumstances to give the industry the support, visibility, and the boost it needs right now,” Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week said.

At present Copenhagen Fashion Week, CIFF, Revolver, DM&T, and Wear are discussing possible scenarios and initiatives to allow them to make a more specific announcement later this month about Copenhagen Fashion Week SS21.
