The Carpet Museum of Iran is set to host an online meeting today focused on research-based approaches in the field of carpet studies, marking the celebration of International Museum Day.
Iran’s Carpet Museum Holds Online Research Forum for International Museum Day
According to the museum’s director, Parisa Beyzaei, who spoke to CHTN on Sunday, renowned carpet scholar Turaj Juleh will deliver a keynote lecture during the event. The program will be streamed live through the museum’s official website as well as its social media platforms, enabling broad public participation.
Beyzaei emphasized that museums, beyond serving as repositories of cultural and historical treasures, also play a vital role as centers for scientific research. “A deeper and more accurate understanding of Persian carpets—one of the most significant cultural products of the Iranian people throughout history—can only be achieved through dedicated research,” she noted.
Since 1977, International Museum Day has been observed annually on or around May 18 to underscore the essential role of museums and the challenges they encounter worldwide.
Persian carpets remain highly coveted across global markets due to their intricate craftsmanship, unique designs, and exceptional quality. Official data indicates that handmade carpets continue to contribute significantly to Iran’s non-oil export portfolio.
