BRICS Membership Expands Iran’s Economic Ties: Businessman

He emphasized the importance of Iran becoming an official member of international and regional organizations such as BRICS, following its accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as its 9th member and the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union.

Hosseini believes that these memberships will help expand economic relations, ensure security, and promote multilateralism.

Highlighting the significance of BRICS, which comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, Hosseini said that the group accounts for 42% of the world’s population, approximately 30% of the world’s gross national product, and 20% of global trade. Iran officially joined BRICS as a full member on August 24, 2023.
