Automation solutions from Stäubli that shorten sock-knitting process

Staubli Turkey, presented D4S toe-linking device that can be operated in accordance with the three sock-knitting machines in the application of different needle counts.

Staubli Turkey, mechatronic solutions provider in the world, presented D4S toe-linking device that can be operated in accordance with three sock-knitting machines in the application of different needle counts: 144,156 and 200 needles.

Still today in many mills, closing the toe of machine-knitted socks is being done manually or by sewing machine, requiring manual intervention by the operator. This takes time and compromises quality

Innovative Design

Stäubli’s D4S automatic toe-closing device changes all this.  Based on an ingenious and completely new idea, it links the sock directly on the knitting machine. It guarantees highest quality, uniformity of the product, and very short downtimes. The socks are unloaded on the fly. The automatic sock pick-up and seaming operations are electronically controlled.

Easy Installation

Available for sock machines from 8 to 19 gauge, the D4S with its very compact design is easy to install and offers decisive advantages in production efficiency and cost savings.

In addition to the D4S device, Stäubli’s product range also includes the 2900 SL DEIMO electronic controller. It is used with circular knitting machines that produce hosiery goods, socks, woollen stockings, pantyhose, and medium-to-large diameter knitted goods in various sectors. The 2900 SL controller includes CAD graphic software for pattern programming, interfaces, remote control, and machine monitoring. It is driven by a Linux-based operating system.
