Agreements Reached on Cooperation with Urumqi Cotton and Textile Trading Center

During a recent visit by a delegation from the Uztextileprom Association to Urumqi, significant strides were made towards enhancing cooperation in the cotton and textile industries. The delegation met with Ding Haowu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the National Cotton Market, and Yan Baofu, President of the China Cotton and Yarn Trading Center.

The discussions culminated in an agreement to develop a comprehensive roadmap for collaboration. This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both parties in advancing the cotton and textile sectors.

The Cotton and Textile Trading Center, officially inaugurated on June 26, 2024, in Urumqi, was established at the behest of the Chinese leadership. The Center’s primary objectives include conducting comprehensive research from cotton planting to textile production, digitalizing the industry, establishing a certification system for cotton and textile products, and ensuring seamless integration across the entire industrial chain. The facility features modern four-story buildings surrounded by industrial and commercial amenities and is conveniently located 10 km from Urumqi Airport.

The key points of the agreement are as follows:

  • Opening a Representative Office: The Uztextileprom Association will open a representative office at the Center, with free office space provided.
  • Experience Exchange: Both parties will exchange expertise in production, quality standards, digitalization, and trade of cotton and yarn.
  • Innovative Projects and Education: The agreement includes collaboration on innovative projects and cooperation in educational initiatives.
  • Permanent Exhibition: A permanent exhibition of Uzbek textiles will be organized at the Center.
  • Facilitating Visits: The Chinese side will facilitate visits by Chinese yarn buyers to Uzbekistan, fostering direct trade relations.

This strategic partnership is expected to enhance the capabilities and global competitiveness of both Uzbekistan and China in the textile industry. Through shared knowledge and resources, the cooperation aims to drive innovation, improve standards, and create new opportunities for trade and investment.
