Interview with Giorgi Gobejishvili, Export Manager at Tiflis Textile
I’m Giorgi Gobejishvili, Export Manager at Tiflis Textile. We are a sock manufacturing factory based in Tbilisi, Georgia, founded in 2017. From day one, we have been producing high-quality socks that do not contain any prohibited substances according to European regulations.
That’s why Tiflis Textile hold one of the most recognized textile certifications, Oeko-Tex Standard 100. We are also members of SEDEX, a union of companies committed to high social responsibility, and we are proud of that.
I’d like to share a bit about our new projects. We have installed solar panels that help us meet 75 to 80% of our electricity needs. Regarding our sales, we operate as a private label, producing socks for other brands. We are not a brand ourselves; we are a factory that manufactures for various clients.
We export to several countries in the European Union. As you may know, the textile sector in Georgia has been growing rapidly over the years. By combining traditional skills with modern technology, alongside our great location and competitive production costs, Georgia is becoming an attractive hub for textiles.
Another important aspect is the logistics; transportation to any country in Europe takes only about three weeks. Additionally, the existence of free trade agreements makes Georgia very appealing for foreign investments.
Regarding the FABTEX GEORGIA, which will be held for the first time in Georgia, we are very excited to participate. I believe every company in the textile sector should contribute to building a textile hub in Georgia. We look forward to supporting this exhibition and enhancing the textile sector in Georgia through this event.
