Uzbekistan Explores Lucrative Textile Industry Collaborations in Korea

In a bid to bolster its textile industry, a delegation from the Uztekstilprom Association embarked on a successful mission to South Korea, fostering valuable partnerships and exploring opportunities for mutual growth. The visit culminated in the presentation of New Uzbekistan’s textile industry potential to Korean investors and business circles.

One of the highlights of this productive visit was the Uzbek-Korean business forum and B2B meetings, which paved the way for substantial collaborations between the two nations.

Youngone Corporation Invests $50 Million in Uzbek Sewing and Knitwear Production

A significant outcome of the visit was the positive discussions held with the Youngone Corporation. Both parties agreed to optimize overtime hours for production employees, signaling a cooperative stance. As a result, the Korean conglomerate has committed to investing a substantial US$50 million in a project for the production of sewing and knitwear products, set to take shape in the Tashkent region.

Fabric Dyeing Plant and Textile Warehouse in the Pipeline

In line with Uzbekistan’s textile industry expansion plans, discussions centered around launching a fabric dyeing plant in Samarkand. Additionally, the delegation explored the possibility of setting up a large textile warehouse within Uzbekistan to facilitate the sale of polyester and spandex products.

Exploring Synthetic Fabric Production with POSCO International

Another significant development was the dialogue with POSCO International. The discussions revolved around regulatory duties concerning yarn exports and the potential joint venture for the production of synthetic fabrics. These talks open up exciting prospects for enhancing Uzbekistan’s synthetic textile capabilities.

Relocation of Bed Linen Production with SL Global

In a bid to further strengthen its textile industry, Uzbekistan explored opportunities with SL Global, a major manufacturer of home textiles. The focus was on potentially relocating the production of bed linen to Uzbekistan, reflecting the nation’s growing prominence in the textile sector.

Deeper Collaboration on the Horizon

Collaboration efforts extended to the realm of associations, with Uztekstilprom, KOFOTI, and KTTA poised to develop a joint work plan aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation among their members.

As Uzbekistan seeks to fortify its position in the global textile market, these groundbreaking discussions and agreements with Korean partners mark significant steps forward in realizing the nation’s textile industry ambitions.
