Taiwan empowers ‘smart’ machinery at ITMA 2019

70% percent of functional fabric come from Taiwan, due to a very strong supply chain of ‘smart’ knitting, dyeing and finishing machines

Taiwanese companies work to make the leap to the industry 4.0 through their ‘smart machinery’ approach, which integrates sensors, big data, cloud computing, IOT and the core of smart machinery, digitalization

In this context, seven Taiwanese textile companies with TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council), will showcase their intelligent/smart textile machinery and innovative solutions at ITMA 2019

Taiwan has become one of the world leaders in terms of innovation in textile production. Taiwanese companies have gone from being manufacturers of low-cost fabrics to lead the global textile market, to the point that currently 70% percent of functional fabric come from Taiwan. This is due to a very strong supply chain of ‘smart’ knitting machines, dyeing and finishing machines. The integration of innovative sensors with IOT and Big Data systems, have allowed Taiwan to become the Silicon Valley of the textile industry.

In this context, the Taiwanese textile companies Pai Lung, Logic Art, AK Dyeing, ACME, CCI Tech, Tai Ho Shing and Taiwan Giu Chun will exhibit their intelligent/smart machinery and innovative solutions for the textile industry during ITMA 2019, which will take place from June 20th to 26th in Barcelona. With the support of TAITRA, these companies will showcase Taiwanese cutting-edge technological advancements.

These technological advancements aim to redefine all the different processes of the textile manufacturing industry. Systems to digitalize and standardize all the knitting process, color eye for observing the wasted water when dyeing all kinds of fabric, fully automated dye stuff weighing systems, or an intelligent automatic Servo Loom are some of the awe-inspiring state-of-the-art ‘smart’ machinery that will be showcased in ITMA 2019.

The Taiwan path towards the ‘smart’ machinery

The Taiwanese textile industry has gone from a low-cost fabrics manufacturer to a global reference in textile production. Strategic trade agreements, the support of government institutions and, above all, the empowerment of smart machinery are the cause of this remarkable growth. Since 2016, Taiwan launched the “Industrial Innovation Plan 5 + 2”, which aims to develop applications and manufacturing solutions based on AI, encouraging players in the manufacturing industry to adopt them in order to make a transition to a “smart industry”.

As Jenny Tsai, Director of TAITRA Barcelona office, says: “Taiwan’s commitment for AI is based on integration with sensors, cloud computing and IOT. Integration with the IOT and big data systems allows the manufacturer to collect data in real time and obtain performance information instantly. We firmly believe that this approach will empower the smart machinery industry.”

Taiwan at ITMA 2019

Companies such as Pai Lung, Logic Art, AK Dyeing, ACME, CCI Tech, Tai Ho Shing and Taiwan Giu Chun, as well as representatives of TAITRA, will present their cutting-edge innovations related to the textile machinery industry. The press is invited to attend the press conference to be held on Friday, June 21st from 12.00 to 13.30 in Gran Via CC1 Room 1.1. at ITMA 2019.
