Over the past hundred years, research by scientists has shown that Iranians have been at the forefront of textile weaving.
Excavations carried out in 1950 in a cave near the Caspian Sea found that the Iranian people weaved wool and goat from the beginning of the cave settlement. Iranian textile in the Achaemenid period was especially famous for weaving soft and delicate woollen fabrics.
The kings of this period were famous for having beautiful and luxurious clothes. One of the reasons given for showing the textile industry’s progress during the Achaemenid period is that Alexander the Great, with all his Greek fanaticism, wore Iranian clothes from the time he arrived in Iran until his death.
As in the past, Iranians today care about weaving high-grade fabrics. In the following essay, the top 10 woven fabric producers in Iran are introduced.
