Cornelia Buchwalder, Secretary General of the Swiss Textile Machinery Association, part of Swissmem, shared her insights on the current landscape of Swiss textile machinery manufacturers and their participation in ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 in Shanghai. Representing 44 member companies, Buchwalder reflected on her extensive experience and the evolving dynamics of this pivotal industry event.
“Swiss textile machinery manufacturers have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our presence at ITMA Asia + CITME showcases this commitment,” said Buchwalder, who has been serving as Secretary General since 2013. “This marks my sixth time attending this joint exhibition out of nine editions, and it is clear that this event plays a vital role in connecting the global textile industry.”
While participation by Swiss companies was more limited this year compared to previous editions, Buchwalder attributed this to two primary factors: the proximity of the last exhibition, held just a year ago in Shanghai, and the ongoing global economic challenges. “Despite these hurdles, I am confident that the Swiss presence will rebound strongly at the next edition in 2025 in Singapore,” she added.
The Swiss Textile Machinery Association has consistently supported its members in adapting to changing market demands and ensuring their leadership in technology and quality. Buchwalder emphasized the importance of maintaining a resilient and forward-thinking approach to address market challenges and uphold Switzerland’s legacy as a leader in the textile machinery industry.
Looking ahead to ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 in Singapore, Swiss textile machinery manufacturers remain focused on innovation, customer-centric solutions, and collaboration within the global textile industry.
