UAE’s INDEX Show Inspires Regional Expansion
For nearly three decades, INDEX Dubai has remained the largest and most influential interior design exhibition in the Middle East. The 28th edition concluded successfully at Dubai World Trade Centre, reinforcing the show’s critical role in the regional design ecosystem. A Ventures report prepared for INDEX 2018 revealed that the UAE’s interiors and fit-out market is among the fastest-growing in the Gulf, with projected spending to reach US$973.4 million by 2022.
However, a shift is underway. Saudi Arabia’s interiors market is rapidly gaining momentum, poised to challenge the UAE’s leading position. Fueled by Vision 2030 and a wave of construction activity, the Kingdom presents a new frontier for interior design suppliers and solution providers.
INDEX Saudi: A Timely Move into the Kingdom
INDEX Saudi will debut from October 30 to November 1 at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre, marking the brand’s most significant expansion yet. The launch is strategically timed to tap into Saudi Arabia’s unprecedented investment in infrastructure, urban development, hospitality, and tourism.
The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative has catalyzed massive construction across its cities, creating a surge in demand for interior solutions. Riyadh, as the nation’s capital and economic hub, is at the heart of this transformation.
dmg events, the organiser behind INDEX, has responded proactively to this market potential, opening a local office in Jeddah and launching multiple design and hospitality shows tailored to Saudi Arabia’s evolving needs. After successful INDEX events in Jeddah in 2012 and 2013, this year’s Riyadh edition is set to be the largest yet.
Supporting $800 Billion in Projects with Global Expertise
“Launching a dedicated interior design event in Riyadh is a natural progression,” said Andy Stuart, Vice President of the Design & Hospitality Division at dmg events. “There’s over $800 billion worth of projects underway across Saudi Arabia. Designers and procurement specialists need direct access to global suppliers.”
Projects across hospitality, residential, commercial, and retail sectors are driving this demand. INDEX Saudi aims to meet that need with a comprehensive display of high-end products—from lighting and flooring to office and home interiors.
The show will also feature a free-to-attend conference, bringing together global thought leaders to discuss the latest trends, sustainability practices, and innovation in design. These expert-led sessions will empower local professionals and enhance design practices across the Kingdom.
