DOMOTEX Turkey, the biggest meeting point for the global carpet and floor covering sector in Turkey and the Middle East, is enthusiastically anticipated every year by the sector’s largest companies.
We have successfully organized Domotex Turkey in Gaziantep for the past seven years. However, for the eighth edition, we have relocated the event to Antalya. This decision was prompted by unfortunate circumstances, notably the earthquake that struck the southeastern part of Turkey, including Gaziantep, at the beginning of February this year.
The fairground in Gaziantep, known as the OFM Institute, became a center for earthquake relief efforts, housing materials to support the affected regions. Due to this situation and the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to take a three-year break to allow for recovery and regrouping. Fortunately, last year’s comeback was a great success, and we now aim to unite the industry, exhibitors, and visitors in Antalya.
Sustainability and recycling are once again at the forefront of Domotex Turkey 2023. This theme emerged organically last year, as the global awareness of sustainability and social responsibility led many companies to produce and utilize recycled materials or adopt sustainable practices in their manufacturing processes.
Visitors to the event will witness an array of sustainable, recycled, and even upcycled products, such as antibacterial luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) and carpets made from natural materials like bamboo and wood, some of which are crafted from recycled fibers.
Considering the impact of Covid-19, we had a prolonged hiatus of three years before making a successful return to Gaziantep last year. Now, we are excited to host the event in Antalya, with another show scheduled in Hanover in January. During the pandemic, people focused on home decoration and witnessed a surge in sales, as they spent more time at home.
However, it also became apparent that the industry, including both exhibitors and visitors, missed the physical connection and engagement provided by live events and exhibitions like ours. As we look to the future, we firmly believe that exhibitions like Domotex will continue to contribute significantly to the industry. Our next step will be Domotex 2024, scheduled for January 11-14, with the aim of supporting our Turkish producers and increasing our customer base to 100 to bolster their export endeavors.
The machine-made carpet industry holds tremendous importance, particularly in Gaziantep, where it is a significant contributor to Turkey’s economy. After China, Turkey stands as the second-largest exporter of machine-made carpets worldwide. In the Middle East region, Iran has shown significant growth and improvement in the machine-made carpet industry, with other countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan also making notable contributions to the sector.
