In an industry-shifting announcement, Hainua Bioengineering has unveiled two innovative products aimed at significantly reducing pollution in the textile industry. Dara, a representative from Hainua Bioengineering, presented the new offerings, which promise to transform the way jeans and other fabrics are produced and treated.
The first product, Feeling, is a water-free softening sheet designed for use in drying machines. “Feeling helps soften jeans and fabrics without using water, which leads to a considerable reduction in water consumption and pollution,” Dara explained. This innovation is particularly impactful given the traditionally high water usage in fabric softening processes.
The second groundbreaking product is eco pumice stones. Traditionally, the jeans industry has relied on natural pumice stones, which create significant waste and contribute to water pollution. Hainua’s man-made pumice stones offer a sustainable alternative. “Our eco pumice stones are more sustainable and produce less waste, resulting in less pollution,” Dara noted. This shift not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances the overall sustainability of the production process.
Dara emphasized the urgent need for such innovations in the textile industry, particularly the jeans sector, which is notorious for its environmental footprint. “The products we’ve developed focus on conserving water and reducing pollution,” Dara said. “By using Fueling, which is a water-free solution, we can dramatically cut down on water usage in the softening process.”
The eco pumice stones are designed to replace traditional natural pumice stones, which generate substantial waste and lead to water pollution. “With our product, we aim to minimize waste and its environmental impact,” Dara added.
Hainua Bioengineering is also responsive to the rapidly changing landscape of the textile industry, particularly in China, where technological advancements and quick adaptability are driving revolutionary changes. “China’s ability to quickly adapt and push out new generations of technologies is a key factor in its transformation,” Dara explained.
The company’s R&D efforts are customer-focused, aiming to create products that meet evolving market demands, especially in sustainability. “Our R&D is geared towards developing products that help our customers achieve their environmental goals,” Dara stated. “We aim to create solutions that are more sustainable and use less water, addressing the significant water pollution caused by the textile industry.”
Looking ahead, Hainua Bioengineering envisions a future where the denim industry fully embraces sustainability. “We believe the industry will rapidly adapt to sustainable practices because it is both a customer demand and a necessity for environmental protection,” Dara predicted. The company’s commitment to reducing hazardous chemical disposal is exemplified by their adoption of ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) standards.
A key long-term goal for Hainua is to achieve a water-free jeans-making process. “Traditionally, jeans are produced through various washing processes involving chemicals and enzymes,” Dara explained. “In the near future, we aim to use laser technology for creating jeans textures and our softening sheets for a completely water-free process, contributing to zero hazardous chemical disposal.”
Hainua Bioengineering’s innovations mark a significant step towards a more sustainable textile industry, offering practical solutions to some of its most pressing environmental challenges.
