The Clothing, Textiles, Footwear, and Leather (CTFL) Industry is a Big Deal in South Africa

The Clothing, Textiles, Footwear, and Leather (CTFL) industry is a big deal in South Africa. According to SME South Africa, the CTFL industry currently makes up around 14% of manufacturing employment in the country, leading to an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 jobs. Textiles are also South Africa’s eleventh largest manufactured goods export.

Armed with this information allfashion sourcing has teamed with industry experts Arsutoria to bring you leading trend talks for Fall/Winter 2024/25, driven by the concept of “Space Age Eclecticism”. Inspired by Apple’s recent release of their immersive, virtual, and augmented reality visors, the VisonPro, these seminars will cover the future of sustainable fashion as created at the nth power. Event attendees are invited to a sensory experience of these trends in the trend forum area.

Based in Milan, Arsutoria The Workshop School is a leading international institution for technical and design training in shoes and bags. Notably, it develops its own leather, footwear, and bag trends. Thus, the Arsutoria seminar will focus predominantly on women’s and menswear trends in this sector.

We are also extremely excited that Marc Antoine Lailvaux one of our local leather experts will be joining us for a talk on Thursday 28 September at 11 a.m. to discuss: Leather’s Multifaceted Value to Civilians and Fashion.

Marc has spent a lifetime immersed in the world of footwear, after being a footwear-mad family for over three generations. With a degree in Social Science from Rhodes University, his curiosity about footwear grew, through a philosophical and social lens. A career in the footwear industry followed in sales and brand management and introduced him to Mossop Leather, the oldest tannery in the Southern Hemisphere trading since 1846, where he currently acts as their Leather Sales and Marketing Manager. Join him on his journey to explore leather’s practicality, sustainability, and market potential beyond luxury – A Discussion on Shifting Industry-specific (tannery, manufacturer, brand, and retailer) perceptions and strategies.

We look forward to welcoming you to allfashion Sourcing 2023 offering you informative talks, over 100 exhibitors, and two sold-out halls at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Join us for a three-day fashion extravaganza from 26 – 28 September 2023 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, and indulge in our world of color and texture.
