Epson, a global leader in printing technology, is demonstrating its commitment to innovation and the Latin American market at the 2025 edition of Colombiatex. The company is presenting its latest advancements in dye-sublimation digital printing, with the introduction of two new models: the Epson SureColor F9570 and the SureColor F11070 high-speed production printer.
Empowering Latin America’s Growing Digital Printing Market
Representing Epson at the event, Gerardo Gordon, Group Product Manager for Industrial Printing Products in Latin America, highlighted the growing demand for digital textile printing in the region. “Latin American customers are highly entrepreneurial, particularly in Colombia, where many traditional textile producers have historically relied on analog printing methods. However, the shift to digital printing is gaining momentum, driven by startups and established businesses alike,” said Gordon.
Epson’s presence at Colombiatex underscores its commitment to supporting businesses transitioning from analog to digital textile printing, helping them meet increasing market demand. The new SureColor models offer high-quality, cost-efficient solutions tailored to the needs of businesses of all sizes, from small print shops to large-scale production facilities.
The Rise of Digital Textile Printing in Latin America
The adoption of digital textile printing in Latin America has accelerated significantly in recent years, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gordon noted that many individuals who lost their jobs during the pandemic turned to small-scale digital textile printing as a means of entrepreneurship. This trend, initially driven by the production of customized masks, has since expanded into broader applications such as fashion, home decor, and promotional products.
One of the most appealing aspects of digital printing for Latin American businesses is the rapid return on investment. “Given the economic challenges and currency fluctuations in the region, the ability to recoup investments quickly is crucial. Many of our customers see payback times as short as six to seven months, allowing them to expand their offerings and grow their businesses rapidly,” explained Gordon.
Massive Growth Potential for Digital Printing
Despite the rapid adoption of digital textile printing, market penetration remains below 10% in Latin America, presenting significant opportunities for expansion. “Reliable data is difficult to obtain, but we estimate that digital printing still accounts for a small fraction of the total textile printing market, which means there is a huge growth potential for the coming years,” Gordon stated.
The 2025 edition of Colombiatex further reaffirmed the strong recovery of the textile industry post-pandemic. “Following the downturn of 2020, there was uncertainty about how quickly the market would recover. However, this year’s event has proven that businesses are eager to invest and explore new opportunities. Attendance has returned to pre-pandemic levels, comparable to 2019 and 2018, with strong engagement from visitors,” Gordon added.
