Egypt Establishes Permanent Export Hub in Kenya to Boost African Textile Trade

Egypt is strengthening its trade presence across Africa with the establishment of a permanent export hub in Nairobi, Kenya, aimed at supporting apparel and home textile manufacturers in expanding exports to East Africa and neighboring markets.

The initiative follows the signing of an agreement between the Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) and the Egyptian Industrial Exports Company to create a permanent exhibition space within the company’s logistics center in Nairobi.

Year-Round Product Showcase

Under the agreement, a 250-square-meter permanent showroom will be established to allow Egyptian manufacturers to display their products throughout the year. The exhibition space is expected to provide direct access to buyers across East Africa while serving as a regional platform for promoting Egyptian apparel and home textile products.

According to the State Information Service (SIS) of Egypt, the project forms part of the country’s broader strategy to strengthen commercial ties with African markets and improve export opportunities for Egyptian manufacturers.

Supporting Export Growth

Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries, said the new export hub is expected to help Egyptian companies enter new African markets and increase garment exports to targeted countries by at least 20%.
The permanent showroom is designed to reduce the distance between manufacturers and customers while creating new opportunities for long-term business partnerships across the continent.

Integrated Logistics Platform

In addition to the exhibition facility, the agreement includes comprehensive logistics services designed to improve export efficiency.
Mona Wahba, Managing Director of the Egyptian Industrial Exports Company, explained that the Nairobi logistics center offers integrated solutions including shipping, warehousing, and insurance, enabling exporters to streamline distribution across African markets.

The company’s 20,000-square-meter logistics center already supports several Egyptian industries and has been developed as a regional distribution hub to facilitate trade throughout Africa.

Expanding Egypt’s African Trade Strategy

The establishment of the permanent export hub reflects Egypt’s growing focus on expanding intra-African trade and strengthening the competitiveness of its textile and apparel industry. By combining year-round product displays with regional logistics infrastructure, the initiative is expected to improve market access, shorten delivery times, and support the continued growth of Egyptian exports across the Africa.
