Birla Cellulose, Isko, Lenzing join ZDHC programme

Birla Cellulose, Isko and Lenzing have joined ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme. These new contributors join in the category of value chain affiliates from the textile industry. They will now contribute to the organisation’s vision of implementation of sustainable chemistry, driving innovations and best practices in the textile, apparel and footwear industries.

With Birla Cellulose and the Lenzing Group becoming contributors, ZDHC marks a significant Programme expansion into the area of raw material production, starting this year with man-made cellulosic fibres. With Isko joining ZDHC, the organisation further grows its uptake across regions and welcomes its first contributor from Turkey.

Joining ZDHC, the companies commit to chemical management best practices and leading the adoption and implementation of ZDHC tools, which include amongst others the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines, the ZDHC Gateway and the ZDHC MRSL. They also become part of a collaborative industry approach to drive harmonisation and reduce duplication and confusion of standards within the value chains, ZDHC press release stated.

With the addition of these three companies, the total number of contributors to the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme totals now 95, comprising of three categories – 24 signatory brands, 56 value chain affiliates and 15 associates.
