Biancalani Textile Machinery was founded in 1957 by Fiorenzo Biancalani, popular for his ingenuity and close ties with Tuscan textile entrepreneurs in the Officina Meccanica Biancalani in Prato, Italy, with an initial focus on wool finishing machinery in the city’s renowned textile hub. This machine was the first discontinuous rope tumbler system to introduce an air-jet method for moving fabric, an approach never before applied in textile finishing. The impact was immediate and far-reaching, with more than 1,000 units produced and sold worldwide, establishing the AIRO® as a turning point in the industry.
In 1999, at the ITMA exhibition in Paris, Biancalani presented the evolution of the AIRO® 1000 with two new models: the AIRO® QUATTRO and the AIRO® DUE.
