Award to Successful Designers in the Leather Industry

The winners of the 5th Detail Leather and Leather Products Design Detail Contest were awarded and the organization put in place to bring new designers to the leather sector

The winners of the 5th Detail Leather and Leather Products Design Competition we awarded at the Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters’ Association (IDMIB) in order to bring new designers to the Turkish leather sector. Merve Karali, Selin Cevahir and Meryem Balıkçı Özögur were the top three in the leather apparel category. The winners will receive education and monetary awards.

There is a Life Sign in the Presence of Design

Speaking at the award ceremony, Turkey Exporters Assembly (TIM) Chairman Ismail Shot mentioned about the design competition and its’ importance in promoting the design culture, to satisfy sustainable development with the added value in exports and said the following, “Leather industry and leather products in our industry, takes a further step within years with the value-added sectors. At the moment, the value of our exports is 1.2 dollars in kilogram; this figure is close to $ 11 in our leather industry. So there is a life sign in the presence of design in our Leather industry”, he said.

Qualified People Needed

İDMİB President Mustafa Şenocak, who stated the contribution on the employment of the invaluable designers to the sector with the future purposes to maintain this support and said, “We also want to bring young talents to the sector. Since value-added products is important in exports from our point of view. We organize design competitions every year including garments and saddlery. We believe in qualified human resources and the power of design in exports. “
