WGSN Report: Sustainability and Decoration for Textiles

Sustainability and Decoration for Textiles: WGSN unveils trends for 2024

Every year the Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), which is the world’s leading company in trend forecasting, raises 13 elements that will directly affect our consumer behavior, as they directly affect sectors such as fashion and interior design. Throughout this text, we will highlight the trends related to these two universes that are part of the textile market.

Biodegradable wardrobe

According to the WGSN report, “considering that more than 2 billion jeans are produced annually worldwide, the need to deal with textile waste will require diversified solutions,” and it is the challenge that companies in one of the largest fashion industries are trying to overcome. Major brands are already adopting strategies such as biodegradable jeans with stretch, which will make it easier for the garment to disappear when it is discarded in the environment.

More color and freshness

Following the peach fuzz shade released by Pantone at the end of 2023, apricot crush is WGSN’s bet. The orange hue evokes the public’s hope in the midst of adversity, which reflects the situation experienced by the world’s population in recent years with the arrival of Covid-19 and recent territorial conflicts.

The color of the year, which brings the feeling of well-being, is certainly already dictating textile production for fashion, but it is gaining more and more space in architecture, since it gives an aspect of luminosity and relaxation to the decoration of environments.

Curtains for protection

They’re back! After years in which consumers were only looking for windows to compose the decoration, curtains are back with a vengeance. With subtlety, they will help in the division of spaces, especially rented ones, they will give an air of novelty to the renovated rooms and, in times of climate crisis, they will help in the protection against the sun.

How about keeping up with these and other trends by following Febratex? Take the opportunity to exhibit or visit our fairs that will bring all the news to the textile sector, especially DecoraExpo, exclusively for decorative textiles.
