The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) is committed to support Ghana’s textile industry.
While substantiating on the same, Madam Afua Asabea Asare, CEO, GEPA, said “The sector has enough potential to be ranked amongst the best within the exports sector.”
She said this at a recent conference where she was promoting the ITME Africa 2020 event, which is supposed to take place in Ethiopia next February.
Madam Asare said that country’s textile and apparel sector employed a large segment of working population and therefore needs attention and GEPA will put all efforts to see the industry gets all the required support.
She added that ITME Africa 2020, organised by India-based ITME Society, is an ideal platform for Ghana’s apparel and textile workers to learn and enhance their carft and trade.
Urging the Ghanian firms to attend the event, Hari Shankar, Chairman, India ITME Society, said that the fair would strengthen the textile manufacturing sector in Africa, by facilitating exchange of knowledge among countries and people.
