Swiss television’s ‘Einstein’ team visited Testex’s textile testing laboratory to carry out endurance test on 2 pairs of Swiss wrestling trousers having difference in origin of flax – EU & Switzerland. The fabrics were tested according to norm ISO 13934-1. Trousers made from Swiss flax yarn from SwissFlax proved to be stronger than those made of EU flax yarn.
The Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival 2019 took place late August in Zug, Switzerland. To celebrate the event, the Swiss ‘Einstein’ television team had decided to dedicate an episode of its infotainment show to it. Thus the team host Tobias Müller and others had visited Testex’s textile testing laboratory with an aim to test the tear strength of the two pairs of Swiss wrestling trousers, said a press release by Testex.
In the test, the Swiss flax yarn from SwissFlax proved to be stronger, tearing at about 320 kg in comparison to the EU flax yarn which tore at about 270 kg.
When developing the yarn and the linen fabric SwissFlax worked closely with specialists from the linen weaving mill Schwob and Jenny Fabrics. SwissFlax only used pure Swiss flax which is well known for its high tear strength. From the start the focus was put on manufacturing entirely ‘Swiss Made’ wrestling trousers.
“Testex, with its origins in silk conditioning, shares the same values of tradition, Swissness and inno-vation as SwissFlax, through which we would like to pursue joint projects in the future,” said Group CMO of SwissFlax, Marc Sidler.
SwissFlax GmbH was founded in 2014. The company’s goal is to rebuild the value added chain for Swiss flax and to operate industrially. It also serves as a link between Swiss flax farmers and the textile industry.
Testex is a globally operating, independent Swiss testing and certification organisation with focus on textile and leather testing.
