The Turkish textile industry plays an effective role in the measures taken against the COVID-19 outbreak.
Within the context of protective masks and medical equipment production, having great potential and infrastructure, Turkey, adding to the manufacturing of 1 million units disposable masks in a day also adapting N95 and N99 masks production.
8 Million Mask per day Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that the disposable mask production capacity can increase to 2 million per day and it can support up to 8 million daily productions of its’ raw materials.
R&D Studies Continue
As a result of the R&D studies initiated by the Ministry of Education within the scope of the measures taken against the COVID-19 pandemic, an automatic 3-layer cable ultrasonic surgical protective mask production machine was successfully manufactured. The production was completed at the Istanbul Küçükköy Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Overall, around one hundred thousand surgical protective masks manufacturing started in that high school.
“We Made an Effort to Meet Demand”
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, on the other hand, stated that there are several demands on the supply of medical supplies from other locations abroad and said, “We have made efforts to meet the needs of approximately thirty countries. It came from Germany lastly with 2 million medical protective masks. Besides, Britain also lodged a similar and new request. In this challenging period, I would like to state that there are 88 countries in total requesting medical equipment from us.”
Medical equipment is used for the specific purposes of diagnosis and treatment of disease or rehabilitation following disease or injury; it can be used either alone or in combination with any accessory, consumable or another piece of medical equipment.
