The popular Treffpunkt Handwerk skilled trades hub in Hall 13 has been optimized for DOMOTEX 2020: with a modern booth design, a comprehensive program of talks and presentations on topical industry issues and with even more live demonstrations, this special area will be the perfect networking and community space for both young and seasoned craftspeople.
With its revamped, modernized design and coverage of practical themes and issues that matter to today’s trade professionals, the “Treffpunkt Handwerk” showcase in Hall 13 is set to be a major highlight at DOMOTEX 2020. “Treffpunkt Handwerk” is a networking and community area where tradespeople young and old will find everything they need for stimulating, quality dialogue with their peers. As well as that, there will be even more live demonstrations on offer than in previous years.
The showcase will feature informative, stimulating presentations in which experts will report on current issues and challenges in trade practice and present new solutions that benefit seasoned pros and novices alike. There will be plenty of opportunities for interior furnishers, parquet installers, floor layers and painters to get up to speed with the latest developments in their trades. The planned presentation topics include digitalization, skills shortages and succession planning, legal aspects of trade practice, restoration projects, marketing, and much else besides.
The presentation program features an extensive lineup of talks and expert lectures and will run on all four days of DOMOTEX. Its moderation is in the capable hands of Norbert Strehle, an expert in screed laying, parquet installation and floor laying.
Among the speakers will be Professor Dr. Andreas Rapp, a parquet expert with A.O. Rapp Gutachterbüro und Labor für Bau-Forensik and director of the Institute of Vocational Sciences in the Building Trade at Leibniz University Hannover, who will be talking about surface damage in parquet floors and repair options. Karsten Krause, the owner and director of K+R Bodenbeläge und Dekorationen GmbH, will be giving a presentation titled “Lightfastness in Floor Coverings – Claims vs. Reality”. And Richard Kille, Director of the Cologne-based Institute for Flooring and Interior Furnishing (IFR Köln), will take a close look at “MMF Flooring – Cost-effectiveness & Risks of Floating Floor Coverings”. Kompetenzzentrum Digitales Handwerk, an advisory organization for digitalization in the skilled trades, will also be there with a series of lectures on “Cybersecurity for Skilled Trades Firms” and “The Digital Strategy Journey”. There will also be a presentation on sport flooringby a representative of Germany’s Federal Association of Parquet and Flooring Technology (BV Parkett). The profile solutions provider Küberit is also contributing to the program, as is Shaper Tools. Shaper Tools will be giving a presentation titled “How Robotics Can Support the Skilled Trades in the Modern Age”.
“The 2020 edition of the ‘Treffpunkt Handwerk’ skilled trades hub is totally geared to the here and now and the future,” commented Richard Kille. The presentation program will have a strong technical focus on floors and the associated need for experienced tradespeople and new talent, he said. Lectures on digitalization in the trades will also be very much to the fore. “And finally the marketing and selling of trade services is receiving the focus that it deserves! With its new look and design, the ‘Treffpunkt Handwerk’ showcase is a communications hub that tradespeople attending DOMOTEX 2020 are just not going to want to miss.”
The “Treffpunkt Handwerk” skilled trades hub is produced in cooperation with Germany’s Federal Association of Parquet and Flooring Technology (BV Parkett), whose involvement will take the form of a display, technical lectures and live demonstrations. Kompetenzzentrum Digitales Handwerk will also be contributing to the technical lecture program. Media partner Holzmann Medien will also have a presence. Meanwhile, in the activity zones, exhibitors and DOMOTEX industry partners will be demonstrating their latest tools and sharing practical tips on substrate preparation and parquet and wood flooring installation.
DOMOTEX visitors will be able to experience the amazing products of first-time exhibitor Shaper Tools and discover new application and installation solutions and systems courtesy of Küberit. The exhibitor lineup in the application and installation technology section of the show will also include such big names as Mapei, Selit, Välinge, Unifloor and Uzin Utz.
