The first-ever Turkish exhibition of textile machinery and production supplies officially opened at the Damascus Fairgrounds, marking a significant step in strengthening industrial and trade cooperation between Turkey and Syria. The event features the participation of approximately 40 Turkish companies, showcasing cutting-edge textile machinery, equipment, and production technologies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Burhan Köroğlu, Chargé d’Affairs of the Turkish Embassy in Syria, highlighted the exhibition’s strategic importance. “This event is more than a commercial showcase; it is an opportunity for Syrian and Turkish industrialists to engage in deeper collaboration, not only in terms of imports but also in joint production and investment,” he said.
Köroğlu emphasized the synergy between the two nations’ textile sectors, noting that many Syrian manufacturers actively contribute to Turkish factories, making them integral partners in the growth of the Turkish textile industry. “The companies here today can be considered not only Turkish but also Syrian, thanks to this mutual involvement,” he added.
The exhibition comes at a time when Syria is looking to revitalize its local textile sector, a historically vital component of its economy. Organizers hope the event will foster new trade opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, and expand industrial cooperation, especially in the context of rising demand for modern textile production capabilities.
