In a major development for Egypt’s textile and garment industry, the Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, signed a $4.5 million investment contract with Gold Star Fashion, a Chinese company specializing in fashion design and garment manufacturing. The agreement was finalized at SCZONE’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, with Mr. Han ShiQin, Chairman of Gold Star Fashion, representing the company.
The new project, named GT Fashion Egypt, will be located within the Qantara West Industrial Zone, occupying 23,000 square meters of space. Gold Star Fashion aims to produce high-quality, competitively priced fashion products, with 100% of its production slated for export to international markets. This project is expected to generate 2,000 new jobs, contributing significantly to local employment and Egypt’s broader economic growth.
Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien highlighted the success of Qantara West Industrial Zone over the past 20 months, noting that it has become a global hub for the textile and ready-made garment industry. The zone has already attracted 15 projects, and this latest addition further demonstrates its growing appeal to foreign investors. El-Dien emphasized that SCZONE is committed to providing a favorable environment for investment, offering essential facilities to help businesses thrive and contributing to sustainable industrial development.
“This project is a significant addition to Qantara West Industrial Zone, demonstrating its attractiveness to foreign investors, particularly in the ready-made garment sector,” said El-Dien. “It aligns with SCZONE’s vision to enhance exports, increase the added value of local industries, and support the national economy. With 2,000 new jobs and the export of all production to global markets, this project is a key milestone in our industrial growth strategy.”
Gold Star Fashion’s expansion into Egypt is a strategic move as part of the company’s global growth plan. As a vertically integrated enterprise, Gold Star Fashion handles every stage of production, from design to export, serving key markets in China, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. The new GT Fashion Egypt project is poised to become a major center for the company’s operations in Africa and the Middle East, further solidifying its position as a leader in the global fashion industry.
Mr. Han ShiQin expressed his excitement about the project, noting that it not only expands the company’s global footprint but also supports economic development and job creation in the regions where it operates. “GT Fashion Egypt will be a cornerstone of our operations in Africa and the Middle East, positioning Gold Star Fashion as a key player in the global fashion sector,” he said.
