Modtissimo Promotes Sustainability with 28 Coordinates in the Green Circle

Modtissimo is proving more and more to be a textile and clothing show that delivers the latest innovations in the area of sustainability, with the iTechStyle Green Circle being the main showcase for companies’ creations. In this 60+4 edition, taking place on 12 and 13 September, 28 coordinates will be exhibited in a section organised by CITEVE and curated by Paulo Gomes.

‘This year’s iTechStyle Green Circle will feature some very interesting innovations, not only from the point of view of materials, but especially the finishes and processes chosen to create the outfits. More natural colours have been used, as well as dyeing processes that use less water and energy, in addition to the application of eco-design with end-of-life issues in mind,’ introduces Cristina Castro, public relations officer at CITEVE.

In line with European legislation on the implementation of the Digital Product Passport, the organisation has for the first time challenged companies to share their data. ‘We started the previous edition with three companies, and now we’re extending it to all of them because we believe it’s an evolutionary process and it’s important that they realise the work that goes into drawing up the Digital Passport,’ she emphasises.

iTechStyle Showcase is also busy

The area dedicated to innovation – iTechStyle Showcase – will be among the attractions at Modtissimo 60+4. It will feature all the finalist editions for the iTechStyle Awards in the Fabrics, Accessories and Products categories.

‘We’ve also noticed a focus on sustainability from companies at this showcase,’ she says, also giving the floor to home textiles, ’which are not usually exhibitors at Modtissimo, but are beginning to see this initiative as an opportunity to showcase themselves.’

CITEVE ́s stand will also be used to publicise mobilising projects such as Be@t (Bioeconomy in Textiles), Texpact (Innovation Pact for the Digitalisation of Textiles and Clothing), Giatex (Intelligent Water Management in the Textile and Clothing Industry), RDC (Roadmap for the Decarbonisation of the Textile and Clothing Industry) and Digi4Fashion (Dissemination and Adoption of Advanced Digital Technologies).

At European level, Resotex: Rethinking the Textile Sector and Sustainable Fashion is being promoted, with the aim of spreading entrepreneurship and economic diversification in cross-border territories by promoting the textile and clothing sector, with a focus on sustainability and the circular economy. The consortium is led by the Provincial Council of Cáceres and has Portuguese participation from ATP – Textile and Clothing Association, CITEVE, Covilhã and Fundão City Council and the MODATEX training centre.

The Trends Forum is another attraction…

Curated by Teresa Pereira, from CITEVE’s fashion and design unit, the Trend Forum promises to be another key space for visitors to get to know the exhibitors. ‘With the major theme of Mineral/Vegetal, this space brings together samples from all the exhibiting companies. Once again, sustainability is the leitmotif. We invite everyone to visit!’
