Due to rapid spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Japan Sewing Machinery Manufactures Association (JASMA) has announced postponement of JIAM 2020 Osaka until 2022 or later. JIAM 2020 Osaka, which was originally scheduled to take place from May 20-23, 2020 at Intex Osaka, is the leading tradefair for apparel machinery and textile industry.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, on February 26, prime minister Shinzo Abe called for large scale sports and cultural events be postponed or cancelled for a two-week period.
“Although JIAM 2020 Osaka does not fall within the Prime Minister’s restrictions, we have nonetheless come to a difficult decision to postpone the show after serious discussions among the committee. As the prospects to curtail the new coronavirus are uncertain, we have prioritised the health and safety of our participants,” said Shigemi Mima, chairman of the JIAM 2020 executive committee.
