Representatives from 16 Italian textile machinery companies are in Cairo on Tuesday and Wednesday to participate in a convention and meetings with Egyptian companies.
The trade mission was organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) together with the Italian Business Association in the sector, ACIMIT, and the Italian Trade Agency ICE, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Egypt and the sponsorship of the Italian Embassy.
The Italian delegation, accompanied by ACIMIT President Alessandro Zucchi, has meetings planned with about 60 Egyptian companies to present its technologies.
It will conduct company visits in the textile districts of Obour City and 10th of Ramadan.
The initiative is part of activities of the Egyptian Cotton Project created by UNIDO in collaboration with the Egyptian Trade and Industry Ministry, financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The project’s objective is to support the Egyptian cotton industry and the textile industry production chain. Egypt is the top African market for Italian textile machinery, with a 47% share of Italian exports to Africa.
In 2018, Italian exports of textile industry machinery to Egypt reached 50 million euros, up 79% on 2017 figures.
